Reliance Jio is planning to launch a feature phone with support of 4G VoLTE. The company is planned at least two such low-cost feature phones, price between Rs.999 and Rs. 1,500, which will come with free voice calls and other services provided by Jio.
The company is planning to use Spreadtrum chipsets to enable 4G VoLTE calls on feature phones priced Rs. 1,500.
If we talk about the features, then it is expected that Reliance Jio’s VoLTE feature phones will also have cameras on the front and back and with these phones it is easy for company to promote its Jio apps such as Jio Chat, Jio Live TV, Jio Money and other services.
According to IDC’s Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, Reliance Jio was the fifth-biggest smartphone vendor of India in Q3 2016. There is no clarity provided by company on the launch timeline.
Now in the market Reliance 4G VoLTE enabled LYF smartphones are available at starting price between Rs. 3,500 and Rs. 4,000. These low cost feature phones will boost the free calling service of Reliance Jio to a large scale in the mobile phone market.
After the end of Reliance Welcome offer, the company had started New Year Offer which provides free calls data and other services, will expire on March 31,2017.
